Fall semester lessons and group classes begin September 15th at the Irish Fest School of Music!
My fall semester of Irish flute, whistle, and guitar lessons begin Monday, September 15th at the Irish Fest School of Music. Lessons are held at the Irish Fest Center located at 1532 Wauwatosa Ave.
This semester I’m starting a beginner’s tin whistle class from 7 to 7:45pm on Monday nights. This 12 week class will teach you the basics of the whistle up through learning a couple of simple tunes with ornamentation! A class may be made available on Wednesdays as well depending on interest.

Here’s a great single reel that’s popular in Milwaukee sessions. The tune was originally composed by Michael Gorman, the great Sligo fiddle player who recorded many influential 78’s back in the 1920s. Gorman’s original tune has six parts to it, but only the first two are commonly played today.
I recorded this tune a few time through rather slowly, so it’s good for learning the melody, as well as practicing backing on guitar and other accompaniment instruments.
