Mountain Road
Here’s a great single reel that’s popular in Milwaukee sessions. The tune was originally composed by Michael Gorman, the great Sligo fiddle player who recorded many influential 78’s back in the 1920s. Gorman’s original tune has six parts to it, but only the first two are commonly played today.
I recorded this tune a few time through rather slowly, so it’s good for learning the melody, as well as practicing backing on guitar and other accompaniment instruments.
The Connaughtman’s Rambles
Here’s a slow and a faster version of the jig, “Connaughtman’s Rambles.” This is one of the first tunes I learned on whistle. These are pretty simple versions; I’ll likely add a faster version with more ornamentation at a later time.

The Musical Priest
Here’s a clip of the three part single reel, “The Musical Priest.” I kinda biff the C part the first time around, but the second time through is okay. It will at least give you an idea of how the tune should sound.
